Charlotte Vandersleyen
FIFTH DAN

Charlotte started to practice Naginata in 1995 at age 13. She has been a member of the Belgian National Team since 1999 and regularly takes part in International competitions. 

She was involved in helping the Dutch squad with the development of Naginata in Germany and Italy before opening her own dojo in Belgium.

She later moved to Portugal where she founded the Portuguese Federation which is still in operation today.

After settling in London, she first joined the local dojo before opening Aspire in 2019. 

Simon Bruins
THIRD DAN

Simon started Naginata while studying in Utrecht where he joined the local club. As a member of the Dutch National team, he participated in international events.

He travelled quite a bit and eventually arrived in Canada where he co-founded a club at Mc Gill University in Montreal.

He then moved to Vancouver where he joined the local club.

He arrived in London where he joined Aspire.

Roy Poon
SECOND DAN

Roy started practicing Naginata in Hong Kong and has been a dojo leader there for many years.

He also represented his country in international events and has recently joined the British national team.

He moved to London and joined Aspire as one of our club's sempais.

Desmond Wong
FIRST DAN

Originally form Singapore, Desmond started practicing naginata in London in 2014. 

He's the longest member of Aspire London and club Sempai.
